Every business guru loves to say “structure equals success.” Sure, structure matters, but too much of it too soon? Well, bluntly put, that’s how great ideas get buried before they ever have a chance to breathe. Yeah, it usually starts with something like that. So, that’s actually why flexibility isn’t just nice to have anymore, at least not at this point. Instead, it’s pretty much essential. Too Much Structure Kills Momentum

Well, to be entirely honest, there’s a fine line between “organized” and “overcomplicated.” Actually, some groups cross it way too early. As in, before they even hold their first event or finish their logo, they’re buried in rules, titles, and paperwork. As you can probably guess, something that started as exciting becomes another to-do list that no one wants to deal with. It’s like trying to teach someone to swim by handing them a manual. You don’t need a corporate handbook when you’re just getting started; you need room to move, to mess up a little, and to figure things out as you go.

So, think of it like this: when a team gets too rigid, everything slows down. Every new idea needs three approvals, a meeting, and a follow-up email. People lose interest because the fun part, building something together, gets buried under “process.”

While sure, big companies might love their policies, but small and midsize groups thrive on agility. Why? How? Well, with agility at least, there’s definitely going to be this whole ability to pivot, rethink, and keep things moving, since this all helps organizations survive long term. But go ahead and think about it; so many successful movements, startups, and community projects didn’t begin as formal corporations.
