Have You Considered This When It Comes To Your Health?

Posted on 6/1/2026, 6:47:48 AM

If you are wanting to be healthier this year then you have come to the right place. There is always plenty of advice and guidance out there regarding how to best care for your health and wellbeing. However, you can often get a bit lost in this and end up feeling overwhelmed with little to no clue about what you should be doing. Taking your health back to basics can be the best thing to do, there are some questions below that you need to ask yourself. Check it out.

How Much Are You Drinking?

One of the very first things you need to ask yourself is how much water you are drinking on a daily basis. If the answer is nowhere close to six to eight glasses then you must up this intake. If you continually don’t drink enough water then you are outing yourself at risk of dehydration, this typically appears as a headache and feeling exhausted. Your body is made up of around 70% water and you regularly lose this through the day, so it is important you replace what is being lost.

If you struggle to drink water then know you are not alone. Many people either don’t like the boring taste or aren’t totally satisfied when they drink water. However, the good outweighs the bad and it is worth it for your body to be healthy. You could try drinking with a straw as this naturally encourages you to take in more. You can also invest in flavored pods to place in the water, these not only add flavor but also vitamins and nutrients that you may be lacking.

Are You Moving Enough?

How much are you moving around each day? If you lead a pretty sedentary life then you might need to try harder with hitting the gym and moving about. As an adult you should be aiming to incorporate around 45 minutes of daily exercise into your routine. While you may think you don't have time for that, it doesn't have to be in one go. You could do 15 minute increments throughout the day. It might be that you go for a run or swim before work, then you could go for another one after work.

The key to exercise working wonders for you is finding something you love, that way you will always want to do it. If you don’t love the idea of working out in front of others then you could follow along to workout videos in the comfort of your own home. There are hundreds online, so find an instructor you like and follow them for more workouts.

What Are You Eating?

Now, along with how much you move, what sort of foods are you eating? If you regularly over indulge on junk food or foods high in calories and fat then you are putting yourself at risk. Eating these types of food regularly not only puts strain on your body but you also open yourself up to weight related conditions like heart disease or diabetes. It can be incredibly hard to eat the right things, especially if you are always busy. The grab and go diet has become a firm favorite amongst busy people, however there are better ways to manage this.

If you know you are going to be busy then you could always batch cook meals for the week ahead, even two weeks ahead. That way you can grab them from the freezer and heat them up when the time comes. That saves you hitting the fast food joints either during lunch or on your way home from work.

If you aren’t too sure what type of foods you need to be eating or portion control then you could speak to a dietician or nutritionist.

Do You Get Enough Sleep?

As an adult you need to be aiming to get around six to eight hours of sleep each night. If you regularly miss out on these vital hours of sleep then you can begin to feel exhausted and highly irritable. You need to get to the bottom of why you are not sleeping well, it might be that you have children regularly waking you up. It could also be that your mattress is old and uncomfortable, this one you can fix. You should be changing your mattress every ten years, anything older than this won’t offer you the same levels of support.

If you have tried everything and you are still tossing and turning at night, not getting the levels of sleep you need then it might be worth speaking to your doctor. They could temporarily prescribe you something to help you sleep. However, sleeping pills aren’t a permanent measure to take.

Do You Take Supplements?

If you are often feeling down and lacking energy then you could invest in some top quality supplements to give you the boost you are looking for. If your body is missing out on key vitamins and nutrients then this will take its toll on your body. Do your research on what you can and can’t take, some will work better than others. If you are looking for some extra help when you are working out and hitting the gym then take a look at a site like https://www.flexpharma.is/ to see what they can do for you.

Can You Avoid That Stress?

Finally, ask yourself how much stress you put yourself under on a day to day basis. This is known as the silent killer and with good reason. Stress can sneak up on you when you least expect it. It can quickly cause burnout if you aren’t careful and this will prevent you from working or functioning properly.

If the stress comes from work then can you delegate any of the tasks and projects that are getting you down? This will take some of the pressure off your shoulders giving you some room to breathe. The stress comes from home life, so you could ask those around you to help out a little more, for instance with chores or putting the washing away.

So there you have it, we do hope you are now able to understand exactly what you need for your health and wellbeing. This is a journey, one that won’t happen overnight. You should take it slow, make changes, and feel healthier further down the line.
