12 Amenity Ideas To Make Your Hotel Room Stand Out

Posted on 12/2/2025, 12:31:06 PM

With so much competition out there, many hotels are having to go the extra mile to stand out. Adding certain amenities to your room could help to provide a more memorable stay and lead to more positive reviews or potentially return guests. Advertising certain amenities may even help attract extra business. Below are just a few hotel room amenities that could be worth considering.

Blackout curtains

Encourage a deeper night’s sleep by adding some blackout curtains to rooms. This is recommended for east-facing rooms or rooms with streetlights outside. You could also consider installing sound insulating curtains to help block out noise.

Premium coffee

Don’t settle for cheap coffee. Consider looking into premium coffee brands to elevate your guests’ morning cup of joe. Also consider what coffee machine you provide (if you just want to provide a kettle, consider looking into coffee bags instead of instant coffee).

Complimentary local food/beverages

If your hotel rooms have mini-fridges, consider adding some local products to them such as local beer or wine or local cheeses. This could be a way of supporting local producers while also providing guests with a unique tasting experience.

Bath robes

Plush bath robes can help to provide a luxury feel to your room. For rooms designed for couples and families, make sure to provide multiple bath robes.

Underfloor heating

Installing underfloor heating is recommended for bathrooms - especially in hotels located in cooler climates. It can help to increase comfort, and reduce damp and mold.

A powerful hairdryer

Hotel room hairdryers are often cheap and pretty useless. Treat your guests to a high powered hairdryer and place this somewhere that is easy to find.

A smart TV

Let guests go beyond basic cable channels by providing a smart TV with the option of apps like Netflix. In family rooms, consider setting up child-friendly accounts on TVs.

A premium sound system

You could also look into premium in-room audio for hotel guests by installing surround sound speakers or a sound bar. This system could be used with the TV or a music system (consider bluetooth speaker options for allowing guests to connect their phone).

A library

Some guests might want to get away from screens. A curated library of books can provide an alternative way to entertain oneself. This could include fiction books by local authors or local history books.

Local guide booklet

Consider providing guests with ideas for local activities and attractions by printing off a local guide booklet. This could be a chance to cross-promote with local companies (you could offer to promote local attractions in exchange for them promoting your hotel).

Pillow menu

Some guests can be fussy when it comes to the type of pillow they like to use. Stock up on a range of pillows and provide a pillow menu in the room. This could contain a phone number so that guests can call down to reception and request the pillow they want so that you don’t have to stock 10 types of pillow in each room.

A crib

Many families traveling with infants aren’t able to take a crib with them (especially when flying) and may seek out hotels that can provide a crib. Consider offering this as an option to guests with young kids in order to attract this demographic (recommended if you market yourself as a family hotel, but unnecessary if you're strictly an adults-only hotel).
