Anthony Bourdain was an American chef, writer, and television host who became famous for his blunt way of talking about food. He trained at the Culinary Institute of America and spent years working in restaurant kitchens in New York, eventually rising to executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles. Kitchen Confidential, published in 2000, grew out of a magazine essay and turned him into a bestselling author. He went on to host travel and food shows, including No Reservations and Parts Unknown, where he used meals to tell stories about people and places around the world. He died in June 2018 at the age of 61.
